Detailed critiques are very specific and run from 20 to 40 pages--sometimes longer. I tell you what I like about your manuscript, what I think needs improvement, and how you can strengthen the work.

Detailed critiques cover the following (as applicable):

• Story/content
• Structure
• Characters
• Style/voice
• Dialogue
• Reader engagement
• Mechanics (grammar, punctuation, layout, etc.)
• Title.

Critiques are delivered via email and are kept strictly confidential.

Usually two or three weeks. I’ll let you know how things look when you submit your work.

How It Works

To get started, please query first:

1. Send an email to paula@writingshow.com.

    

2. Tell me about a little about your writing experience, goals, and what you would like to get from a critique.

    

3. Provide the title of the work as well as word count, genre, and a few words about the book or story. 

    

4. Include your name and contact details.

    

5. Attach your work to the query as a Word document or .rtf file.   

    

6. Once I receive your email, I’ll let you know if I can help. If so, I'll provide instructions on how to pay via PayPal, check, or money order. If you don't hear from me, try again. I always answer my email; silence means something has gone wrong.
